Commonly used terminology

Commonly used terminology:

Precursor cells:
Precursor cells are immature cells that through the process of differentiation/maturation will give rise to a mature cell.
E.g- Myeloblast is a precursor cell for mature neutrophil.
Connective tissue:
Connective tissue forms a meshwork of fibre and thereby provide support to all other tissues of body. Connec tissue originates from mesoderm, middle cell  layer of embryo.
Cytoskeleton:
Cytoskeleton is a meshwork of cytoskeletal protein that provides structural support to the cell, helps in cell signalling as well as essential for cell movement.
Osteoid:
Osteoid is the unmineralized organic component of bone.
Enamel:
Enamel is the outer covering of the tooth. It is the hardest tissue of human body.
Atheroma:
Fatty substance deposition in arterial wall leading to  damage and weakening of the wall. It increases the chance of formation of thrombus.
Basement membrane:
Basement membrane is the thin fibrous extracellular tissue that separates the epithelial lining from the connective tissue.
Thin fibrous extracellular basement membrane tissue

Epidermis: It is the outer most layer of skin that protects us from external environment.
Intermediate filament:   Intermediate filaments are part of cytoskeleton and provides support to the cells. It has 10nm diameter.
